The 2024 Summer Olympics are on the horizon, and the US have been gathering their athletes for each event. The swimming trials recently ended, so the track and field events will take the main stage this evening. Numerous competitors have already earned their spot on the Olympic roster, including Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson.
Lyles completed the men’s 100-meter final in less than 10 seconds, which secured him first place in the race and a spot on this year’s Olympic team. This will be the second time Lyles competes in the Olympics, and he enters this year’s competition as a world champion.
Richardson won the women’s 100-meter final with a time of 10.71 seconds, earning the 24 year old a spot on the Olympic roster. This will be Richardson’s first trip to the Summer Olympics, and she will be looking to dominate her competition for the US.
The track and field competitions will start at 7 p.m. CT and will feature exciting events. Most of the track competitions will be races of 400+ meters, and some of the field events will be long jump and high jump.
