ATLANTA, Ga. (KTAL/KMSS) – Texas State Technical College students earned top honors in their respective divisions for the National SkillsUSA Competition.
After earning a gold medal at the SkillsUSA Texas Postsecondary State Leadership and Skills Conference in Houston, Tarren Harvey qualified to compete on the National level.
Harvey competed in Architectural Drafting for the 59th annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference. Harvey placed in the top 10.
Harvey explained this accomplishment was not possible without his mentors at TSTC
“They’ve always provided resources for all of their students, and I’m glad I was able to represent them on a national level,” said Tarren Harvey, a student at Texas State Technical College’s Marshall location.
Harvey is now interning with Concept Engineering in Ruston and looks forward to competing again next year.
Other divisions in which students can compete include cybersecurity, technical drafting, automation and controls technology, to name a few.
