Competition guides for State Fair of Virginia competitions in adult and youth creative and culinary arts, horticulture and field crops, as well as 4-H and FFA competitions and some livestock shows, have been posted on the State Fair’s website. The fair will be held Sept. 27 through Oct. 6 in Doswell.
Judging will be held during the event. Some of the categories include cut flowers (inviting participants to submit cut flower specimens in clear vases or create floral arrangements with homegrown flowers); duct tape creations; a grilled cheese competition; and the Virginia Potatoes Recipe contest.
“We’re excited about the diversity of all the competition categories, and we know our competitors enjoy the creative outlet that these contests afford them,” said Sarah Jane Thomsen, SFVA manager of agriculture education.
