VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – Six young ladies in South Georgia are competing for the Miss Georgia crown in Atlanta.
In just two weeks, we’ll find out which one will then compete for Miss America.
“They will compete and hopefully all six will make it to the top 15, from there if they are the winner then we will start preparing for the Miss America competition,” Miss Valdosta Teen Mary Margaret Cooper said.
Cooper has completed over 200 hours of community service hours as she enacts her platform “Know Your Worth.”
“My goal is to help girls just feel more confident in their own skin and just be who they were made to be,” she said.
While the competition remains fierce, the meaning behind it all is sisterhood and friendship.
“It’s not your typical pageant that you hear about,” Cody Smith, Miss Fitzgerald organization executive director, said. “The sisterhood behind these women is incredible. It’s funny seeing like myself a male in this director role with a bunch of females but I have learned so much from these ladies.”
“The group of girls I won with have truly been such a blessing. They are the sweetest people and have been so heartwarming and supportive in every way,” Cooper said.
