The stories you read in Coast Weekend are here because of a dedicated group of local contributors.
Some have developed specialties — there is one columnist who keeps watch on the area’s craft breweries, for example. Another writes a series on the rebuild of Astoria’s downtown after the city’s 1922 fire, as many of its buildings are now approaching their centennial anniversaries.
Others focus their efforts on finding the stories behind the region’s calendar of events — from art exhibits and history talks to seasonal happenings like the Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest and Washington State International Kite Festival.
As summer approaches, we’re looking for new voices to help with coverage and bring in ideas.
News or feature writing experience is preferred. We’re looking for writers with a reporter’s commitment to accuracy and detail and an interest in covering arts and culture in the lower Columbia region.
Tell us who you are as a writer: Do you prefer to craft a story over several weeks or work with tight deadlines? Would you rather pitch ideas or take assignments? Do you have subject matter experience or a column idea?
Interested contributors should send a resume and clips, preferably unedited copy, to editor@discoverourcoast.com. Do reach out with questions or comments, too.
