New Delhi: Global travel app Skyscanner has launched a new generative AI travel planning tool called Savvy Search. This tool, exclusive to the app, leverages AI technology to help travelers find ideal destinations based on their preferences. The tool can suggest destinations for various travel needs, from cheap city breaks to romantic getaways.
How Skyscanner Savvy Search Works
Savvy Search is powered by OpenAI’s Chat GPT technology and uses Skyscanner’s vast database of flight routes and prices. Travelers can simply describe their desired trip, and Savvy Search will generate up to three curated destination recommendations. For example, users can input queries like “a cheap European city break in October” or “a 30th birthday trip with fun nightlife and a great food scene.”
Skyscanner Savvy Search: Features and Testing
The tool combines imagery with rich destination descriptions to highlight the unique characteristics of each recommendation. This feature sets Savvy Search apart from other AI travel tools and chatbots. After selecting a destination, travelers are directed to Skyscanner’s flight search to compare prices and book flights.
“Skyscanner has been helping wanderlust adventurers with its Everywhere search for the last 17 years – in fact, 1 in 2 travelers globally come to Skyscanner without a specific destination in mind. As reported in Skyscanner’s Travel Trends 2024, we’re now seeing AI being adopted to help in this travel inspiration space. Globally, 44% of travelers are using AI to help them plan and research travel, but its use varies a lot depending on the market. 45% of Indian travelers, for example, are already using AI on their phones compared to just 8% in the UK.” says Piero Sierra, Chief Product Officer at Skyscanner.
