The annual Miss Nebraska and Miss Nebraska Teens competition is underway this week, starting with a welcome introductory gathering Wednesday night at Venue 304 in downtown North Platte.
The three nights of competition run from Thursday-Saturday, June 6-8.
There are about 31 contestants in the two competitions.
Since 1937, the Miss Nebraska Scholarship Program has featured young women and their personal and professional goals, offering a forum to express opinions, poise, talents and skills.
The contestants express themselves to audiences around the state and the country. The program is one of the largest providers of scholarship assistance for young women.
The Miss Nebraska competition is held in North Platte each year during the first week of June. It is an official preliminary to the Miss America pageant. At the same time, the Miss Nebraska’s Teen competition is the state final for the national competition.
The competition includes a private interview, displays of lifestyles, fitness, talents, personal appearance/poise in evening wear as well as an on-stage interview.
Tickets are available at www.missnebraska.org.
