CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) – Mercy Health announced it is parting ways with a major national commercial insurer if an agreement is not reached by the end of March, a move that could affect nearly 30,000 customers in Ohio.
After months of negotiations, Mercy Health and Cigna have been unable to reach an agreement on reimbursements to the health system. If an agreement isn’t reached by March 31, Mercy Healthy hospitals, physicians, urgent cares, surgery centers and all other sites will no longer be in the Cigna network.
On April 1, those with employer-sponsored Cigna commercial plans will no longer be in-network for Mercy Health’s services in Ohio. Mercy Health said it sought to secure appropriate reimbursements reflective of the current health care environment.
