Harry Maguire is set to hold talks with Manchester United about his future at the club as he enters the final year of his contract, according to reports. United are expected to listen to offers for their former captain in a second successive summer, but he appears determined to stay put beyond another transfer window.
Maguire enjoyed something of a renaissance in the 2023/24 season after he seemed destined to be forced out beforehand.
United agreed a £30million deal with West Ham United, which collapsed after the 31-year-old fought to remain at Old Trafford.
A couple of miserable years saw Maguire lose the United captaincy, with Erik ten Hag handing Bruno Fernandes the armband last summer.
He looked like he was at risk of spending another season watching from the bench after not making his first Premier League start until October.
But United’s relentless injury crisis offered Maguire a route back to regular football, and he has rediscovered his form ahead of representing England at Euro 2024 this summer.
The Red Devils’ No. 5 has just one year left on his current contract, which has prompted uncertainty about his future ahead of the summer transfer window.

Maguire will be among the players in the shop window alongside Victor Lindelof, also entering the final 12 months of his deal.
However, the £80m man is reportedly ready to dig his heels in again with the intention of spending one last year at United.
According to The Sun, Maguire is desperate to stay at Old Trafford next season regardless of whether Ten Hag stays in charge or is sacked.
He will reportedly hold talks with club chiefs in the coming months, likely after the conclusion of Euro 2024 in Germany.
United will sign at least one new centre-back this summer after Raphael Varane confirmed he would be leaving as a free agent when his contract expires next month.
Jonny Evans is also expected to depart once his one-year deal runs out after returning to the club last summer and playing a more prominent role than planned due to injuries.
One of Maguire or Lindelof are bound to be part of INEOS’ early exodus in M16, and the former may hold more resale value, especially if he has a strong tournament with England.
But despite incoming new arrivals in defence, he is claimed to be prepared to commit another year to United, as long as he is wanted.
