LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – One local group that’s all about the Middle Ages invited the public to join them in Elmer Thomas Park.
The Barony of Eldern Hills Chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) hosted “A Day in the Park.”
Members of the group and locals alike enjoyed games, classes, food and displays of Medieval artistry.
For some, being a part of the organization gives history and fellowship.
“The biggest part for me is the commradery and the sense of familty that you develop wth these people,” said William Smith, Senitial for the chapter. “We’re an educational organization, so we learn different skills. We teach them to our other members and stuff, whether it’ anything arts and sciences, anything that they did in the Middle Ages, we try and recreate.”
The organization’s next public event will be at the Lawton International Festival in September.
