The project will unfold in multiple phases with a total budget of $1 million.
“The healthcare centre, including the emergency department, will remain open and accessible to the public throughout construction,” AHS stated.
AHS stated that this summer will see asphalt resurfacing and concrete work around the facility, between the beginning of June and end of August. This is dependent on the weather, AHS added.
The first phase will require exterior structural concrete stoops to be taken out and replaced.
Asphalt in the north parking area and main service entrance drive will also be replaced, according to AHS.
Additionally, concrete floor slabs at the main entrance and long-term care entrance vestibules will be removed, and new ones will be placed.
AHS stated that the Mayerthorpe Healthcare Centre will remain open with all services available during the work.
Traffic control staff will be at the facility to guide visitors to the proper entrances, and signs will be placed to further help with traffic, according to AHS.
“Alberta Health Services thanks the public and staff for their understanding and co-operation while this work is underway,” AHS stated.
