A giant green dragon inflatable appeared to be wrapped around the Empire State Building Sunday morning in the latest stunt to promote the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel “House of the Dragon,” which premieres later this evening.
Stunning images of the massive creature began popping up on X Sunday morning — days after the Empire State Building promoted its “House of the Dragon” takeover on social media.
“In celebration of season 2 of ‘House of the Dragon’ streaming on Max, the World’s Most Famous Building is officially pledging themselves to Team Green,” a statement about the takeover on the Empire State Building’s website read.
The massive marketing stunt could also be seen in the live EarthCam video of the iconic Big Apple skyscraper.
Eagle-eyed social media users shared images of the dragon, with some catching a glimpse of it from as far as Jersey City, New Jersey.
The enormous dragon seemed to make a callback to iconic movies like “King Kong” as it appeared draped over the top of the skyscraper.
The immersive experience is being held on the 80th floor of the New York City landmark through June 18.
Tickets to the exhibit start at $40.
The “Game of Thrones” spinoff “House of the Dragon” returns for Season 2 on Sunday, two years after the incredibly popular first season came to a close in 2022.
