NICE, France — The European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC) added Björn Dymke, managing director of TRUMPF Laser, to its board of directors. Dymke served as CFO of TRUMPF in the U.S. from 2016 to 2023, having served in a variety of executive positions in the company since 2008. As an industry association, EPIC represents more than 800 companies across 33 countries.
STOCKHOLM — Optical sensing solutions company Neonode Inc. appointed CFO Fredrik Nihlén interim CEO following the resignation of Urban Forssell. Nihlén will serve as both CFO and CEO until a new CEO is found. Forssell will serve as a strategic advisor to the company and on the board of directors until the end of 2024.

QUEBEC CITY — Gentec Electro-Optics (Gentec-EO), a laser beam measurement company, appointed Charles Dumas vice president of sales and marketing. He previously served as international sales director at Gentec for 10 years. Prior to Gentec-EO, Dumas served in a variety of roles at EXFO.
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Automated benchtop single-cell characterization and microfluidic isolation technologies company Nodexus Inc. has added three industry veterans in cytometry sciences, pathology, and cancer biology to its scientific advisory board, Peter Lopez, John Ferbas, and Jonni Moore, who will serve as chairperson. Lopez serves as associate professor in the department of pathology at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine, Ferbas is the director of cytometry sciences at Amgen, Inc., and Moore is a professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Perelman School of Medicine.

MELVILLE, N.Y. — AIP Publishing and Applied Physics Letters (APL) named Maria Antonietta Loi as editor-and-chief of the journal. Loi joined the editorial board of APL as an associate editor in 2014 before being promoted to deputy editor in 2019. She is a professor of applied physics and chair of the Photophysics and Optoelectronics Group at the University of Groningen, as well as a member of the university’s Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials. Her areas of study include new semiconductors and improved means of fabricating optoelectronic devices, specifically solar cells, LEDs, and photodetectors.

OLCHING, Germany — PHOTONA Holding, a photonics investment company, named Claudia Michalke chief marketing officer. Michalke joins from LASER COMPONENTS Germany, a subsidiary of PHOTONA Holding, where she was head of marketing and public relations. She also previously held the position of technology manager at Bayern Photonics.
