“The process was really eye opening to see how we can quickly turn around a concept into a full-blown creative campaign,” he continued. “The gates have opened.”
But don’t ditch the humans
Titled “Prompt and Punishment,” the ad follows other AI-related campaigns from Fiverr in the past few years. It comes a few weeks after another, “A No-Code Love Story,” which tapped into the vibe-coding wave to warn of the consequences if inexperienced engineers use AI to create websites and apps.
Another that debuted in April, “Not Just Another AI,” featured Stranger Things star Brett Gelman.
Other AI-themed ads from Fiverr, like last year’s “Nobody Cares” musical, have poked fun at the hype surrounding the technology.
Fiverr’s new ad illustrates both AI’s possibilities and its limits. Garry may be artificial, but the campaign insists the magic still comes from humans behind the scenes. Its tagline is, “Put the pro in prompts.”
Despite the speed of AI tools, a vast amount of work went into Fiverr’s ad, which required hundreds of prompts and frames, rigid storyboarding, motion-capturing, and video layering.
Other unresolved challenges posed by AI include ethics and economics. While Fiverr claims the tools can save money, agencies and freelancers still wrestle with concerns about pricing, copyright infringement, and the commodification of creative work.
When asked if freelancer pay on Fiverr has declined amid the rise of AI, Yahav said they have increased because clients are seeking help with more complicated tasks that take longer.
“I’m sure at agencies you might see prices going down, but for us it’s actually meant higher quality talent being on our platform and more complex projects,” Yahav said.
