Farewell to April Social Security payments – this is the new May schedule

The United States Social Security payment schedule comes to an end for the month of April for all beneficiaries. This means that after the April 24th payment there will be no more benefit payments of any kind this month. So we will have to wait a few days before we can get a new check.

If we are waiting to collect a retirement, disability or other type of check from Social Security we must wait a few more days. If you are a group 4 retiree, you may be able to collect a check, but the rest of us will have to wait a few days until we get the new benefit.

Remember that the Social Security Administration pays checks on up to 4 different days of the month. And best of all, we can know well in advance the exact day we will have our retirement money available each month. Therefore, knowing this calendar is important for the financial organization of American households.

When are the next Social Security checks?

At a minimum we will have to wait until the first week of May to get the next of the Social Security retirement checks. So pay attention to the schedule of upcoming payments, as you could be in the group of beneficiaries to get your check soon.

Upcoming Social Security retirement payments in May are:

• May 3rd. Check for retirees with a pre-May 1997 benefit.
• May 8th. Retirees with a post-May 1997 check with a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month collect on this day.
• May 15th. Social Security beneficiaries retired after May 1997 with birthdays between the 11th and 20th get their benefit.
• May 22nd. Beneficiaries with a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month and a check after May 1997 collect their retirement on this day.

There are also two more payment days in May. The Social Security Administration will pay Supplemental Security Income checks on the 1st and 31st of May. So we will have an extra payday for Supplemental Security Income recipients.

This extra day is actually the June advance payment, which arrives on the 31st of May because June 1st is a weekend. Both Supplemental Security Income payments can reach the maximum of $943, as is customary in 2024.
