The World Beer Cup handed out its awards on Tuesday night and one Iowa brewer came out a winner.
Beer connoisseurs refer to the World Beer Cup as “the Olympics of beer competitions,” also known as the largest and most prestigious beer competition in the world.
The competition awards gold, silver and bronze medals for 110 beer styles represented at the 2024 World Beer Cup at a ceremony in Las Vegas.

Exile Brewery Co. in Des Moines won a silver medal for G.G., its Munich-style dunkel. Exile competed against 65 other beers from around the world. Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant in Topeka, Kansas, won gold for its Munich Dunkles while Sturdy Shelter Brewing in Batavia, Illinois, won bronze for its Wilson Street Dunkel.
The 2024 edition of the competition brought 290 judges from 37 countries who judged 9,300 beers from 2,060 breweries from 50 countries.
