Hi! I’ve started freelancing for a company outside France a few months ago after I received my CD. I was told that as a legal resident married to a French national, I could start freelancing from here and declare the income/turnover when it’s time to file the joint income tax return with my spouse. I thought it’s as simple as that! I just realized I need to set up an auto-entrepreneur account first with URSAFF. Silly me! It’s been months since I received my first payment through my French bank account and I have yet to sort this out. My question is, should I declare the payment I have received prior to URSAFF regisration? Won’t I get a penalty for starting a freelance activity without registering as an auto-entrepreneur first? Thanks in advance for those who will respond to this post.
