GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A new competition looks to find the best cannabis products in the state of Michigan and you can help decide.
Best in Grass, which has held competitions nationally, is now turning to the state level and focusing on Michigan in particular. The goal is to find the best product that is locally made in a variety of categories.
The competition begins April 6 and will feature 60 brands and more than 180 products that will contain an estimated 330,000 grams of cannabis.
“I’ve spent the past four years getting to know the vibrant Michigan cannabis community, which is a true standout among all of the cannabis-friendly states I’ve visited coast to coast. When it came time to select a launch market for Best in Grass, we knew the Mitten State was the perfect location,” Best in Grass co-founder Mark Kazinec said. “As one of the largest cannabis markets in the US, Michigan consumers have shown up in droves for previous competitions. We’re looking forward to tapping into that loyal audience and connecting with the cannabis community through Best in Grass.”
The categories that will be judged include:
- Best Indica Flower
- Best Sativa Flower
- Best Hybrid Flower
- Best Infused Flower Moon Rocks
- Best Pre-rolls
- Best Solvent Infused Pre-rolls
- Best Non-solvent Infused Pre-rolls
- Best Rosin Vape Pens & Cartridges
- Best Non-rosin Vape Pens & Cartridges
- Best Solvent Concentrates
- Best Non-solvent Concentrates
- Best Gummy Edibles
- Best Non-gummy Edibles
- Best Syrups and Beverages
And there is a way for people to also be the judge themselves. The competition is looking for 2,600 volunteers to test out the products and grade them. Sampling kits go live at certain locations around the state on April 6. You must be 21 years or older to judge.
Each kit will cost between $75-280 depending on the category you choose from. Judging will take place from April 6 to May 19 and the winners will be announced at an award show on June 18 at the Royal Oaks Music Theatre.
