SAINT LOUIS, Mo. — Nylah Walker is a 12-year-old with a passion and a mission. She is a home-trained dancer who has wowed crowds on the stage and has even garnered a fairly large following on Instagram.
Recently, Nylah was invited to a national competition in Las Vegas, and the hope is that not only will she be able to perform but also teach and learn new routines.
Nylah is asking raising money to help reach her dreams.
“I want the community to know that I didn’t have a traditional dance studio or traditional dance classes” said Nylah, but luckily I have an aunt to teach me everything I know and I’m so grateful.”
Nylah’s great aunt Paula Brown calls Nylah her bonus child. She has converted her garage to a dance studio to help Nylah follow her passions.
“I see firsthand how hard Nylah works every single day,” said Brown. “I would just love to see her get one step closer to her dreams.”
Nylah’s started a GoFundMe page to help her get to a national convention in Las Vegas in June. The family says it will help her pay for travel expenses and dance competition fees.
