BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Robin Ball, a Buckhannon native, has been selected to participate in the 2024 Versatile Horse and Rider Competition for a second consecutive year.
The competition takes place from the 11th to the 14th of April during the Equine Affaire Expo located in Ohio.
The Versatile Horse and Rider Competition is a timed obstacle race where the performance of each horse and rider team will be judged based on the quality of horsemanship.
Ball says the opportunity to compete has opened her up to new possibilities and has allowed her to share her passion with the community.
“Me and Bentley have worked very hard this past year, growing a business, and teaching people around the community how to ride, and just bringing, you know, equestrian practices back into the community”.
Since competing in 2023, Ball at just nineteen, has started her own business.
The business, Rowdy Cowboys, offers riding lessons, demos for bible schools, Project Isaac, and more.
Ball also came out with a t-shirt line through Something Simple LLC, where her horse Bentley is featured.
Ball’s mom says Robin grew up watching the competition and expressed how proud she is of all that she has accomplished.
“When Robin was trying out last year for it, she was like ‘I remember papi told me one day Robin this could be you someday, you can do this,’ and you know, here she is doing it, and I know my dad is up there super proud, because I know I am”.
Ball and her horse Bentley have trained tirelessly over the last year and are excited for what’s next.
