Regional insurtech company Igloo and its partners are protecting freelancers by safeguarding essential work devices through products like Gadget Protection and Cracked Screen Protection. These offerings cover phones, laptops, and other electronics, ensuring freelancers can continue their work without disruption.
“Freelancers provide services that go beyond geographical limitations and with the added benefits of being able to work anywhere, choose flexible times, and the opportunity to showcase and hone their skills to global clientele, it’s easy to see why it’s a growing and attractive sector,” said Roberto Vea, commercial lead at Igloo Philippines.

Citing 2022 data from payment processor Payoneer, Igloo said an estimated 1.5 million Filipinos are engaged in freelance work, offering services such as content creation and customer service locally and internationally.
Gadget Protection offers extensive coverage for accidental and liquid damage, including professional repair services at authorized centers. Available via GInsure and Lazada, it aims to keep freelancers’ devices functional and secure. Cracked Screen Protection covers accidental screen damage for up to 12 months, and is available for phones and accessories purchased on Shopee.
Since January 2023, over 15.8 million policies have been sold across various platforms. These products empower freelancers to enhance their productivity and career growth, highlighting Igloo’s mission to make insurance accessible and beneficial for everyone, particularly in the expanding freelance industry.
