Panthers rowed to a sixth-place finish with a time of 7:59
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Men’s Rowing team wrapped up competition at the Dad Vail Regatta on the Cooper River Saturday with a sixth-place finish in the grand final for the double and a third-place finish in the second final for the Varsity 8+.
The double of Onat Cakici and Akos Hajagos got the Panthers started in the grand final in the early afternoon.
The Panthers rowed to a sixth-place finish with a time of 7:59.169, just five seconds behind VCU and six seconds behind Pittsburgh. Oklahoma City A took gold (7:19.359), with William and Mary (7:21.535) and Dominican (7:46.959) rounding out the top three.
The Varsity 8+ second final was a competitive race, as each crew was fighting until the end.
There was only a five-second difference between first place and sixth place.
In the final 250, Tech was sitting in fourth. The Panthers made a strong push to power pass Steston and claim third in 6:06.374, just 0.937 behind Jacksonville and 2.064 behind first-place Colgate.
Stetson (6:08.837), Delaware (6:09.334), and Marietta (6:09.407) rounded out the bottom three.
