In just a few hours the United States Social Security Administration will send out the new retirement check to Americans. In order to have this check in our pockets, we will need to meet certain requirements. If we do not meet them, this will not be our collection day, but a different one.
Regardless of what our collection day is, if we have our retirement accepted, the Social Security Administration will send us the check. It is important that we keep this in mind, since we must know that we will get the payment every new month.
If we do meet the requirements, the payment will appear in our checking account in just a few hours. Of course, it is possible that we will already have this May payment, since the Social Security Administration has already sent the first of the checks to American retirees within the month.
Criteria for getting the new Social Security payment in May
The collection day for this payment will be on May 8th. On this day, that is, in just a few hours, we will be able to enjoy a check of up to $4,873 in our checking account. But two requirements must be met. If we do not meet them we will not be able to get the check.
On the one hand, we will need to have the Social Security benefit accepted after May 1997. This will make us part of the large group that usually collects on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month.
But it is not enough to have the payment since after May 1997. In addition to that, it is also mandatory to have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month. Only then will we have access to the payment of the May 8th benefit. It is also important to note that the payment will arrive sooner or later depending on the collection method we choose.
To get the money immediately we will need to have Direct Deposit activated. If we do not have this collection method activated, we will have to wait a few days to get the money. The rest of the groups will collect on May 15th or May 22nd, depending on their date of birth.
