EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The Wisconsin School State Solo & Ensemble Festival is making its stop in Eau Claire.
Around 1,000 students, most of them in high school, came the UW-Eau Claire to compete and perform at various locations across campus. Students from North and Memorial High School, along with Chi-Hi, Osseo-Fairchild and Rice Lake were among the competitors.
John Stewart, UW-Eau Claire’s Concert Band Director, said these events are key for success in a student’s music career.
“For the students, it’s a tremendous honor to get past regionals and come to the state event,” Stewart said. “It allows them to build confidence and add things to the resume when they apply for colleges.”
More than 11,000 students have competed in Solo & Ensemble competitions across the state this season. The next cycle of students will compete in late 2024.
