GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Do you have a business idea? You can now submit your idea for a chance to win thousands to get our business up and running.
For the sixth year in a row, The 100 competition through Start Garden is looking to help jump-start business ideas by giving entrepreneurs funding to get started.
“Start Garden created The 100 as a no-strings-attached way to fund people to take a shot at new endeavors each year. It’s a community-wide investment in the businesses and organizations of tomorrow,” the competition’s website said.
To submit an idea, participants must upload a 100-second video explaining their idea here. The submitted videos will not be shared with the public.
In July, 100 finalists will receive $1,000 to prepare for Demo Day. The finalists will have two months to prepare to present their ideas at the 2024 Demo Day competition on Sept. 18.
“When we designed the Start Garden 100, our goal was to make it a genuine opportunity for anyone from any neighborhood in Michigan,” Paul Moore, co-director at Start Garden, said in a release. “It’s literally the easiest $1,000 an entrepreneur can get to play with an idea.”
At Demo Day, 10 winners will receive another $20,000 to help start their businesses.
Organizers said that there is a separate category for high school students between the ages of 14 and 17. Five finalists will receive $1,000 to prepare for Demo Day. The winner will receive an additional $5,000.
Winners will be announced on Sept. 18 at Calder Plaza.
