SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Who thought playing with Legos could get your kid to an international robotics competition? It did for some kids in Sharon.
The Sharon Tiger Techs Robotics Team competed at the FIRST Championship in Houston last week. They were up against 160 other LEGO League teams from around the world in their division.
They won the Innovation Project Finalist Award for their project, Adapt-A-Reel. It’s an adaptive fishing device for people who can’t use a typical one. They also got a provisional patent for their device.
Head coach Dave Tomko won the Coach of the Year Award.
The team has students from 4th to 8th grades in the Sharon City School District.
