OpenAI has unveiled a new image editing feature for DALL-E-generated images within its ChatGPT platform, available on both web and mobile apps (iOS and Android). Users can now select specific areas in the image for editing and describe the desired changes through text prompts in the chat interface.

OpenAI now lets you edit DALL-E-generated images within ChatGPT. The new image editing feature is available across ChatGPT web and mobile apps (iOS and Android). Users can select an area in the image to edit and then describe the changes in the form of a text prompt within the chat. Additionally, the OpenAI chatbot also shows style inspirations for DALL-E images within the interface.
DALL-E is a text-to-image generation tool from ChatGPT maker OpenAI. The tool is available independently, but ChatGPT Plus subscribers can access it via ChatGPT. This cross-access makes it easy to use DALL-E and get better results with better prompts generated by ChatGPT itself. Now, OpenAI has added the ability to edit DALL-E-generated images within ChatGPT as well.
How to edit DALL-E images in ChatGPT
To edit images generated by DALL-E in ChatGPT, you need to access the selection tool by clicking on the picture. Now you need to select the area in the image you want to edit and describe the changes in the chat.
The image editing tool also allows you to undo, redo, and clear selections to make changes or restart editing. The interface allows you to add, remove, or update parts of the image.
Alternatively, you can also provide a prompt with the desired edit in the conversation panel without selecting any specific part of the image. Once you are done with the edits, you can save the image using a dedicated button on the top-right corner of the editor.
Similar to the web, you can also edit DALL-E images using the ChatGPT mobile app. You will see four options on an image generated by DALL-E in ChatGPT– Edit, Select, Save, and Share. You can choose the ‘select’ option to access the selection tool and highlight the parts of the image you want to change. Now, write a prompt with your desired edits to get the result.
