FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV) – Trey Anderson, age 31, a Fairmont resident, won first place in his division and placed second overall at the 2024 Bass Federation National Championships at the Sam Reyburn Reservoir in Brookeland, Texas.
Anderson won the National Semi-Finals that took place on the Monongahela River in Fairmont back in September of 2023, which allowed him to advance to the championships.
He says that fishing with fellow anglers from all around the country was a great learning experience.
“Fishing out of West Virginia is a lot different than fishing in West Virginia” Anderson said.
“The fisheries are a lot different, they’re a lot bigger, so I was able to learn a lot from my anglers that I fished with.”
Anderson plans on using what he learned in Texas to catch more fish here in North Central West Virginia.
