Lac Ste. Anne County (LSAC) stated on Thursday that its fire services received a request for support on Wednesday, and it has deployed crews.
“Our thoughts are with the community of Jasper as we, along with all Albertans, cherish the magic and natural beauty of this national treasure,” LSAC stated.
According to LSAC, the fire services deployed engine and tactical tanker crews, with the engine crew having five members and the tactical tanker crew having two.
The members were sent from Station 6 (Mayerthorpe), the East Station (near Onoway) and Station 5 (Darwell), according to LSAC.
“These members selflessly volunteered and answered the call for our fellow Albertans,” LSAC stated.
According to LSAC, the crews set off for Jasper within only two and a half hours of the request for assistance.
Meanwhile, LSAC itself went under a fire restriction on July 11. Under the restriction, issued fire permits were cancelled and no more permits were granted.
