The Silverthorne Storm gymnastics team concluded its regular season schedule on Sunday, July 14, at the Alpine Aerials Gymnastics meet in Fraser.
Similar to the team’s previous competitions, the Storm continued to post impressive results at the Fraser meet. Solidifying and mastering their routines before the state meet from July 26-28, the gymnasts had seven all-around champions and numerous finishes atop the awards podium.
Leading the Compulsory 3A competition was Ansley Falconer, who dominated all aspects of the competition, posting first-place finishes on the vault, beam and floor while taking second on the bars. Due to her dominating performance, Falconer was crowned the champion of the Compulsory 3A competition with a total score of 34.1. Linora Gilbert and Faela Norton soon followed Falconer in the results, taking second and third, respectively. Gilbert posted a score of 32.3, and Norton recorded a score of 32.1. Kylee Bingham placed fourth overall in the Compulsory 3A competition with a total score of 32.
“Ansley Falconer has now scored over 34 two times this year and has moved into the Super 3 group for state,” Silverthorne Storm head coach Ben Way said. “Congratulations to Ansley.”
Beckett Watson was the second Storm athlete to win her respective all-around competition. In the Compulsory 3B competition, Watson placed third on the vault and bars and first on the beam and floor in order to combine for a total score of 33.2 points. Following Watson, Susan Oberheide finished in second (32.2), Emilia Gilbert took third (31.8) and Kyla Cutler finished fifth (30.5).
Emi Ivanic led the way for the Storm in the Compulsory 3C competition by taking first overall with a total score of 32.6. Vivian Morgan took fifth with an all-around score of 30.2.
As the lone Storm athlete in the Compulsory 4A competition, Brooklynn Beckerman placed fourth on the bars, third on the beam and first on the vault and floor. Beckerman combined for a score of 30.6 to place first overall in the all-around competition.
Rounding out the action in the compulsory levels was Lily Wood, Lily Ford, Danika Barth, Eloise Hood and Avery Hitzhusen. Wood took second (30.55) in the Compulsory 4B competition while Barth placed first (31) in the Compulsory 4C competition. Ford took third overall in the Compulsory 4C competition (30) with Hood taking fifth (29.4). Additionally, Hitzhusen placed fifth on the beam, third on the vault and second on the floor in the Compulsory 4B competition.
The Storm’s success continued into the optional level of the competition with the team securing an additional two individual, all-around titles.
Combining for a total of 30.2 points, Avery Dye won the Optional 1A competition by placing fourth on the bars, third on the vault, second on the beam and first on the floor. Skylar Anderson scored 27.9 points to place fourth place overall in the Optional 1A all-around competition, and Fionna Pennicott took sixth (27.15).
In the Optional 1B competition, Kaylee Karden led the way for the Silverthorne Storm and the competition as a whole, placing first overall with a total of 31.15 points. Due to their standout performances, Dye and Karden will move up to the Optional 2 level for the upcoming state competition.
Placing second on the bars, Claire Kunz took fifth overall in the Optional 2 competition with a score of 30.4. Hannah Eisemann, Mia Norden and Emmi Brunner also competed in the Optional 2 competition, but they were not able to secure enough points to finish on the podium of the all-around competition. Eisemann took fifth on the vault and floor, Norden finished fifth on bars and Brunner placed third on the bars.
With a third-place finish on the floor, second-place finishes on the vault and bars and a first-place finish on the beam, Ayla Hampton took third overall in Optional 3 all-around competition.
All 25 of the Silverthorne Storm athletes that competed throughout the duration of the season qualified for the state gymnastics meet from July 26-28. The three-day meet will take place at the Hyland Hills Sports Center in Federal Heights. Action will kick off on Friday, July 26, at 8:30 a.m.
