On Monday, June 24, 10 teams representing local beach patrols competed in the annual Sea Colony Lifeguard Competition. Held on Sea Colony’s beach, the event was a showcase of skill and dedication among area lifeguards.
Emceed by paramedic Mike Yandle, the event also featured a special tribute to the late Sheldon “Shelly” Dawson for his years of service in lifesaving.
The competition featured swimming, paddling, running, relays and paddleboard rescue races. Organizers said all of the patrols displayed outstanding sportsmanship.

Organizers noted that the Annual Sea Colony Lifeguard Competition not only celebrates top performances but also highlights the role lifeguards play in ensuring beach safety.
