GATLINBURG -Over the last few months, National Beta members from Pi Beta Phi have been working hard to prepare their entries for the National Beta Convention.
That hard work paid off in June, when they celebrated their wins in the following categories of competition: Top 5 in Elementary Spanish (Alexandro Quintana); Elementary Musicology (Aviel Perez, Gideon Huskey, Alexandro Quintana, Kindelyn Stanfill); and Top 10 in Elementary Digital Portfolio, Elementary Group Talent, Elementary Technology, Elementary Recycled Art (Kindly Stanfill), Junior Songfest, and Junior Digital Portfolio.
Students from Pi Beta Phi also represented the State of Tennessee as Premier Performers (Alexandro Quintana and Faeryn Salimbene), Presidential Candidate (Daniel Aleman), Pianist Aviel Perez, and artists Roxie Ogle, Madison Cliff, and Ashlynn Hurst.
The Pi Beta Phi Elementary Beta Club originally competed and received awards during their State Convention held in November 2023. Their victories at the state level provided an opportunity to compete at the national level. The National Convention, held in Savannah, Georgia, provided all students the opportunity to compete. Over 3,000 Elementary Beta (grades 4-5), 4,800 Junior Beta (grades 6-8) and 6,100 Senior Beta (grades 9-12) students were able to represent their schools this summer.
With more than 500,000 active members and 8,750 clubs nationally and internationally, National Beta has become the nation’s largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. National Beta promotes the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. National Junior Beta includes grades 4-8 and National Senior Beta includes grades 9-12. Visit betaclub.org for more information.
