A study conducted by invoicing software company Bookipi has unveiled the average earnings of freelancers worldwide.
The study analyzed data on average pricing for popular services like logo design, video editing, and data entry. Bookipi’s analysis offers insight into the cost of freelance labour globally, with a specific focus on 40 countries for a fair comparison.
Commenting on the findings, Tim Lee, CEO and founder of Bookipi, noted that countries with strong economies and high living standards typically have the most expensive freelancers.
This observation was reflected in the data, with Australia identified as the most expensive country for freelancers, charging an average of $594.56 per task.
“Although this is true for India, the second country to appear in the ranking, freelancers can command a higher rate, thanks to their specialised skills and expertise in industries such as software development, IT services and digital marketing,” he stated.
Morocco stood out as a leader in freelance rates among African countries. The country secured the third spot with an average freelancer rate of $402.03 per job. It also claimed the second position as the most expensive country for video editing, with an average cost of $122.35 per job.
Nigeria has the least expensive freelancers in Africa on Upwork, charging an average of $163 per job. Following closely, Egypt has an average freelancer rate of $157.16, while South Africa charges $138.88 per freelancer.
Tim Lee hopes the ranking would empower freelance workers worldwide to recognize their value and feel more confident in setting fair prices for their services.
